5 SAUBLE BEACH MUST-DOS

Planning a beach vacation to Sauble Beach? Here are five can't-miss things to do in Sauble, other than going to the beach!

Located just a few hours drive from Toronto, Sauble Beach is over ten kilometres of gorgeous sandy beaches on the shores of Lake Huron, making it the second-largest fresh water beach in the world. The beach is the main attraction, of course, but the small beach-front town is full of great shops, food, and more to explore during your vacation! Here's some of my top picks from my recent trip.

Thrift at The Patch

This sprawling vintage shop is a thrifter's dream! Each room of The Patch is a neatly organized treasure trove of clothes and jewelry. It's a maze of great finds, and I left with a jumpsuit that I'm obsessed with. The clothes are organized by era, style, and colour, and there were lots of plus-size items available. The rustic charm or the wood panelled building adds to the sense that you've stepped back in time to someone's cottage storage room in the early '90s and are sorting through their decades of fun clothes. Plan to spend some time browsing and I don't think you'll leave empty handed!

Enjoy a Meal (& Maybe Live Music!) at Heydays

A retro-themed restaurant with an incredible interior, a pool-side patio, and a phenomenal menu, Heydays was such a highlight on our Sauble Beach trip that we ended up eating there three separate times! Favourites included the broccoli caesar (which I had with the vegan lemon dressing due to an allergy and 10/10 recommend!) and the malted chocolate milkshake-- but every item on the menu had us saying 'you've gotta try this!'. It isn't often that I'm still talking about food weeks later, and even rarer that I rave about broccoli, so you KNOW this place is great! Time your visit right and you might catch live music on their patio, usually chill, summer-y, retro-style artists who add to the already incredible ambiance.

Eat a Gourmet Hot Dog at The Dogfather

Speaking of great, The Dogfather was an unexpected delight. We came across it at just the right moment of exploring Sauble Beach, when we were hungry and a gourmet hot dog felt like the exact right vibe. What was just a grab-and-go snack turned out to be a trip highlight! These hot dogs come with toppings I never would have dreamed of, and you can even order yours sliced up and put inside a gourmet grilled cheese. We each bit into our choices and made wide eyes of excitement and surprise at each other, such a treat!

I've posted a full guide/review on The June Motel here, but I'm sure you can guess by it's inclusion on this Sauble Beach highlights list that we loved it. This Netflix-famous motel is absolutely everything you could want from a beach inn, with gorgeous decor, a heated pool, activities, and excellent hospitality touches that make the pricey cost of a night's stay feel worthwhile. It's absolutely the best place to stay in Sauble Beach!

Don't Miss the Sunset!

The view of the horizon from the beach is so perfect that you can watch the sun slip into the water in dramatic fashion each and every night. Even on cloudy nights, the sunset from Sauble Beach is incredible and not to be missed!
